LSR-SCCA 2000 Keweenaw Winter Rally

Recent warm weather played some foul tricks: Many of the intersections had unplowed roads which 'suddenly' became bare pavement, causing several instructions to (equally suddenly) have a phrase like "road ahead may not exist due to snow" be added to them. In addition, speeds which seemed 'brisk' on icy roads suddenly became leisurely on dry ones.

Average Leg Score 56
Mean Leg Score 36
The Average and Mean exclude scores of Max and Miss.

Three of the maxes came from competitors, some with significant experience, forgetting to take the 20-minute pause in a long Free Zone which had most of the gas stations at the end of it.

One competitor admitted to slipping a digit and attempting (in the calculator) a CAST of 200 MPH.

Seidel/Martineau had never competed before and didn't have anyone coaching them - unlike the other 'novice' teams. Although they missed 4 controls and maxed another 3, they achieved a very respectable score (55) on the leg with the pause!
